VOX 2004
General Description
This web-based work is developed from aboriginal 'Creation Myths' and 'Songlines' as experienced through the 'Dreaming' or 'Dreamtime' - a sacred account of creation that is regarded as an unbroken process that connects traditional Aboriginal people to their historic places, origins and ‘Ancestors’. Songlines (a form of oral navigation) connect these places and creation events and the ceremonies associated with those places.
Installation Description
VOX is an interactive web based work, dealing with the contemporary re-working, investigation and research into aboriginal 'Creation' myths and 'Songlines', generating real-time sonic compositions from images of the landscape.

Users are able to select various landscapes from a database of images and trigger Songlines in the form of vertical and horizontal scanlines that travel across the landscape, thereby generating a sonic composition in real-time from the underlying image.
